Description
This unstitched suit fabric set features traditional Indian hand-block prints, primarily in the styles of Bagru and Kalamkari, which originate from the artisan communities in Rajasthan and Southern India. The specific designs are natural outcomes of the handcrafted Dabu mud-resist printing process.
Material and Dimensions
- Fabric: The base material is high-quality cotton (60/60) cambric, a soft, lightweight, and breathable fabric ideal for comfort in all seasons.
- Dimensions: The set provides generous, pre-cut material for a custom suit:
- Top: 2.50 MTR (meters)
- Bottom: 2.50 MTR (meters)
Color and Prints
- Color: The dominant colors are a combination of deep red (rust/maroon), blue (indigo/navy), and natural cream/off-white accents.
- Prints: The set combines two distinct patterns:
- Top Fabric: Displays a dense, repeating floral motif, often called 'buti' or 'jaal', characteristic of Kalamkari and Bagru styles.
- Bottom Fabric: Features complementary geometric patterns, including bold chevrons/zigzags, stripes, dots, and crescent-like motifs.
- Technique: The Dabu print technique is employed, an eco-friendly mud-resist process using natural dyes, which results in the fabric's unique, slightly imperfect charm.
Characteristics & Care
As a handcrafted product, slight color variations and print irregularities are inherent characteristics of the artisanal process. For best care, dry cleaning for the first wash is recommended to maintain the color fastness of natural dyes.
